About Me

I fell in love with photography at the age of 13 when I received a simple box camera as a graduation present from middle school. Mesmerized, I built my first darkroom that year, acquired several old 35mm cameras, and received my first SLR just as I was heading off to college. I was fortunate to begin my photo education under the pioneering program of John Upton at Orange Coast College in the late ’70s. I completed a BA in photography at California State University Long Beach in 1982.

Multi-year stints at Los Angeles Community College District and Northrop Grumman as a video production specialist kicked off my career. In 1991, as an instructor and workshop developer with Sony Video Institute, I developed and delivered video production workshops throughout the United States including one of the earliest digital photography courses in 1992. I continued with Sony until 2000, when I began an eight-year stint with Pinnacle Systems and Avid Technology. There, I managed product training for their professional video editing and graphics systems. I completed my career as a training development manager at two prominent Silicon Valley technology companies.

During this entire time, from my photography introduction at 13 to the present, my passion for photography has remained a constant. Immersed in its historical foundations, I've participated in and witnessed its transformation from a film-based analog medium to the digital revolution of the last 25 years. Looking forward, my enthusiasm remains undiminished.
